DARPA Young Faculty Award 2027
A junior-researcher program with a mandatory executive-summary stage before the full proposal and topic-specific technical requirements.
Key dates
- Mandatory executive summary: November 5, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. ET
- Full proposal: January 13, 2027 at 4:00 p.m. ET
Who this is for
For qualifying tenure-track faculty, recently tenured faculty or equivalent nonprofit researchers within the stated career and prior-funding limits; all team members must meet the announcement's U.S.-institution and personnel rules.
Award
The 24-month base period is up to $500,000. Separate Director’s Fellowship and U.S.-citizen graduate-student options can bring the maximum combined amount to $1,225,000; they are not the base award.
Planning suggestions
- Planning suggestion. If you are still choosing a topic, schedule around the executive summary first; the full-proposal date is a later constraint, not a replacement for it.
- Planning suggestion. If your institution needs internal review, show both stages and the single-topic requirement to your research office before committing to a submission schedule.
